Stargate: $500 billion AI infrastructure project
OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle and MGX announce plans to invest up to $500B in US AI data centres over four years.
What happened and why it matters
Stargate committed $100B immediately, with the first gigawatt-scale campus in Abilene, Texas. Combined with similar commitments by Microsoft, Google, Meta and Amazon, AI capex reached a scale comparable to national infrastructure programmes.
